How should Missouri funders remain anchored in purpose while effectively meeting community needs with a shifting and unpredictable landscape? Join Philanthropy Missouri for a series of conversations, Purpose-Driven Philanthropy in Uncertain Times, where we’ll explore how to navigate change with clarity and purpose. This multi-part series will help you align strategy, community need, and values during times of change.

This session focuses on philanthropic governance. At its core, governance is about making and implementing decisions. In times of uncertainty, strong governance is more than a safeguard—it’s a compass. Join PhilMO for this timely session exploring how philanthropic boards and leadership teams can remain anchored in purpose while adapting to dynamic circumstances.

We’ll discuss practical governance strategies that promote alignment between values, grantmaking, and non-monetary philanthropic engagement. Whether you’re refining your board’s role, clarifying leadership responsibilities, or simply seeking steadiness amidst change, this conversation will help you lead with clarity and confidence.

Following the presentation of content, participants will join breakout sessions designed by type of funder, including:

• Corporate funders,
• Funders with living donors and/or active family leadership,
• Tax-supported funders, and
• Private, religious, and conversion foundations.

Intermediaries and other grantmakers are encouraged to join the breakout that aligns with their unique circumstances.  

These peer-led breakouts will provide space to discuss context-specific challenges, share additional peer strategies, and explore collaborative solutions.

Your active participation on-camera – especially in breakouts – is encouraged. This series will not be recorded. 

WHAT’S NEXT IN THE SERIES?

Missouri grantmakers are well-resourced and well-connected. As policy actions destabilize the philanthropic landscape, funders have an opportunity to move beyond traditional roles and become active agents of change. This session will explore how philanthropic leaders can leverage their voice, influence, and grantmaking to amplify community priorities, advocate for policy shifts, and drive systemic impact. AUDIENCE & REGISTRATION

This is a series designed with all Missouri funders in mind. There will be customized breakout conversations organized by types of funders. Please register using the register button at the top right of the screen.
